The rattle of machine-guns, the explosion of shells and the crack of rifles, continue unceasingly around Juichang, where the Chinese are en- gaged in a 'general counter-attack.
According to military despatches received here this morning, the Japanese have suffered over 5,000 killed and wounded, while the Chinese casualties are reported to be much less.. The Japanese first line was taken by the Chinese following a furious infantry attack yesterday afternoon and many machine-guns and other war material were left behind by the Japanese in a hasty retreat.
