Political circles here are anxiously awaiting news from Prague with regard to the progress be- ing made towards reconciling the two extreme view points, but the protracted dispute is caus- ing increasing nervousness.

Political circles vary in opinions from the doubtful to the despondent. The general feeling among well-informed foreigner observers here is that the Czechs and Germans have committed them- selves so deeply that they have made retreat without loss of prestige difficult, if not impos- sible.
