Wins 200 Metres Breast Stroke Title At Wembly

London, August 12. fourteen-year-old girl, who still goes to school, won a European swimming title at the Empire Pool, Wembley, last night. She is Miss Inge Soren- sen, of Denmark, who became the new woman 200 metres breast stroke champion. Her victory over Miss Doris Storey, eighteen-year-old Leeds swim- mer, was the climax to an exciting race, in which the result was in doubt until the last second.

Miss Sorensen, Miss Storey, and Miss Waalberg (Holland) led throughout until the last length, when Miss Sorensen shot ahead. Trying desperately to overtake her rival, Miss Storey made a brilliant burst ten yards from the finish, but Miss Sorensen retained her advantage to win in the new championship time of 3 mins. 5.4 secs.
