The changes in the French Cabinet have stirred up an internal political turmoil in which the left- wing political groups and trade unions have joined forces in attacking Premier Daladier. The principal ground for criticism is M. Daladier's declaration that France "has to get down to work," this involving the abolition of the 40- hour week and the substitution of one of 48 hours.
