Twenty-one local officers of the Quantity Surveying Branch and five local officers of the Maintenance Branch were granted full-pay study leave to enable them to prepare for the R.I.C.S. or I.Q.S. examinations while two local officers from the Architectural staff were granted full-pay study leave to enable them to prepare for I.O.B. Examination.

Evening and part-time day release courses at the Hong Kong Polytechnic in subjects pertaining to building construction, structural engineering, quantity surveying, and electrical and mechanical engineering were attended by 102 junior members of staff.

Thirty-four students of the Hong Kong Polytechnic and eight architectural students of the University of Hong Kong received summer vacation training in the fields of building construction and structural engineering.
4.101 One senior member of the Office staff attended a course at the Outward Bound School during the year.
4.102 Four Student Maintenance Surveyors and five Architectural Graduates were under training within the Architectural Office during the year. As in previous years, a training scheme for technical officers who are studying for a professional qualification (Building Surveyor or Maintenance Surveyor) was operated in conjunction with the Buildings Ordinance Office. The officers spent periods in both the Architectural Office and the Buildings Ordinance Office to broaden their experience and to assist them in their studies.

The Office participated in the 8th P.W.D. Sports Day held in January 1976, taking first place in bowling and lawn bowls, second place in basketball, darts, lawn tennis, sailing and squash, and third place in table tennis and volley ball.
