The matting wicket will doubtless prove somewhat of a handicap to the local defence, but the prelimin- ary matches mentioned above, have been expressly arranged to allow the Shanghai side to become accus- tomed to this, and should therefore have little or no bearing on the re- ault to the all-important match.
