ON PRIVILEGES ISSUE

Without a division, the House of Commons yester- day adopted the motion of the Prime Minister agreeing to the recent report of the Commit- tee on Privileges that a breach of privilege had been committed when Mr. Sandys was sum- moned by a Military Court of Enquiry to give evidence with regard to a matter which had arisen in connection with Mr. Sandy's Parlia- mentary duties.

In replying to Major C. R. Attlee, Leader of the Op- position, the Speaker ruled it out of order to discuss the action of the War Secretary in con- nection with something of which he had no responsibility.

The Speaker said that any action of the War Secretary with refer- ence to this incident could be dis- cussed on an appropriate Supply Vote, or possibly when the report of the Select Committee was bated.
