If Declarer had been sitting in the opposite seat we are certain he would have had no trouble in mak- ing the slam, since the South hand would then have been dummy. After the opening lead he would have played the King of spades from "dummy" and over to his Ace. Then noting his long side suit, he would have led a heart. The heart suit would have been easily estab- lished and the Jack of diamonds would have been discarded on the Ace of clubs. Thus, playing from dummy's side of the table Declarer would have been almost certain to play the hand correctly:
