"Shanghai, To-day.

A new business district is to be developed in Nan- king within the next three months, according to plans of the Nanking Municipal Adminis- tration. The area on both sides of Shanghai Road, the re- sidential district of Nanking before Japanese occupation, has been marked out as a new business district. Blocks of new buildings are to be constructed in this area and leased out to the merchants as shops and other premises at reasonable rentals.

Merchants desiring to secure portions of land within this district and construct buildings of their own design are being permitted to do so, providing they submit their plans to the Municipal Administra- tion before commencement of the construction work.
