Chengchow, To-day.

The Chinese counter-attack on the eastern section of the Lunghai Railway and in east Honan has reaped tangible results.

Both Yushih, 45 kilometres southwest of Kaifeng, and Chungmow, 29 kilometres west of Kaifeng, were recaptured by the Chinese yesterday morning.

The Japanese troops inside Kai- feng city are now reported to be withdrawing across the Yellow River to north Honan. About 6,000 have already crossed the river at
