The extra race meetings have been most enjoyable that nothing but the utmost praise is due to the responsible officials for the organisa- tion of the programmes. With the possible excep- tion of that unfortunate occasion, when Twilight Star found its way through to the front of the members' stand, due to the gate having been left open, and with the exception of the last meeting, when Centre Court (Mr. S. Macaulay's Hat-Trick For Todmorden

ONE of the hire League Cricket was NE of the outstanding performances the feat of Macaulay, the former York- shire player, who, for Todmorden, cap. tured four Bacup wickets in five balls, including a hat-trick, and finished with six for 10 runs. Against such devas- tating bowling Bacup were dismissed for 33 in reply to Todmorden's score of 131.

His best mounts were Courting Eve, Honeymoon Eve and Humdrum Eve but Night View has been a veritable nightmare to the betting public.

Mr. Black is followed by Messrs. B. A. Proulx, V. V. Needa, and S. W. Tang. Áfter having been champion jockey for 1987, Mr. S. C. Liang is holding a lowly position.

During the course of the year, Mr. L. P. Ralph left on holiday and I ex- pect that on his return he will again take an active part in our racing.

I am glad to be able to state that Mr. W. H. "Daffy" Davis is practically on the road to complete recovery from the injury he sustained some time ago, but I do not anticipate that he will ride again in the near future. I am sure, however, the he must have felt greatly satisfied that in his absence, his pouy, Election Time, ably handled by Mr, A. F. D. Colson, scored two magnificent wins, one of which paid the second highest dividend of the year.

THE OWNERS

After the Annual, Race Meeting, the Sassoon Stable disposed of all its ponies with the exception of Happy Eve. Apart from Handicap Eve, the whole string was acquired by Mr. Li Lan Sang, and he has certainly donc wall with them. He has won a num- ber of races with Courting Eve, Honey-| moon Eve and Humdrum Eve, as a re- sult of which he now has the satisfac- tion of being second in the list of most successful owners.
