The Japanese Ambassador, Mr. Yoshida, saw the deputation of five members of the China Cam- paign Committee to-night when he declared that the Japanese Government found it neces- sary to destroy the anti-Japanese movement in China.

It was hoped in the beginning, he said, that the war could be localised in the north but they had been reluctantly forced to go on to Shanghai, Nanking and now Canton.

ment would terminate the pre- sent Anglo-German Payments Agreement of June 30, without notice.
