MAGNIFICENT SPECTACLE PROVIDED BY KING'S BIRTHDAY PARADE
com-
Happy Valley racecourse provided a magnificent spectacle this morning when a grand parade of the Colony's entire defence units, was held in honour of the forty-third birthday of His Majesty, King George VI. Long before the parade menced, thousands of people, in- cluding troops, milled their way to the Valley, enlivened by the sound of martial music and shortly before the official ceremonial commenced, the whole of the Valley including Stubbs Road was surrounded by over 60,000 spectators.
Unlike last year, when the birth- day celebration took the form of a march past in Statue Square, this morning's parade at the Valley was an inspiring sight, to which mili- tary precision provided the key.
