A serious threat to Kaifeng is developing as a re- sult of the Japanese flanking movement near Chihsien, according to latest Chinese reports from the front.

Instead of driving westward along the Lunghai Railway for possession of Lanfeng, the Japan- ese forces are said to be advancing from Kwei- teh, Yungchen and Mengchen on Chihsien and Luyi.
