Japanese Trying Desperately To Fight Way Out
Hankow, To-day. Complete encirclement of the Japanese troops un- der the command of Major-General Doihara in the Lanfeng area, is claimed in a Chinese mili- tary communique. The communique states that although Chinese forces evacuated Lanfeng on Tuesday after- noon, possession of the town is relatively un- important following the Chinese decision to employ encirclement of the city.
The Chinese at present are using their finest fight- ers in the battle at Lanfeng, in which the Chin- ese hope to wipe out the Doihara Division, thereby repeating their Taierchwang victory.
