1:2500 HM2.5C

At the further request of the Principal Government Town Planner it was agreed that the area covered by the HM5C series could also be produced at 1:2500 as a base upon which he would produce layout plans for the urban areas. Work commenced at the end of the period under review.

1:5000 HM5C

All 19 sheets comprising this series were completed and released on distribution.

It is proving a good utility series not only for Town Planning purposes but also for routine police and general administrative use — it makes an excellent, highly detailed wall map of the urban areas.

1:7500 SM7D

Production proceeded on schedule during this period. Ten of the fifteen sheets were completed and released and three of the remainder are nearing completion. It supersedes the old 8" to 1 mile series and is in dual-language.

1:15000 SM15D

7.72

Produced by 1/2 size photographic reduction of the SM7D series, this new version will replace the old 4" to 1 mile series. Two sheets will cover the whole of the urban area, one of Hong Kong Island and the other of Kowloon, as far North as Sha Tin. The Kowloon sheet is nearing completion and Hong Kong will follow next year.

1:10000 L884

Sheets were systematically revised to form the basis of the new metric 1:20000 series. Further revision also became necessary on two sheets which went out of stock during this period.

1:20000 HM20C

7.74 Two sheets (nos. 6 and 7) were printed, one (sheet 11) was ready for printing and three are under preparation. The Director of Military Survey has adopted this series for his own future use and by substitution of a different grid plate and other minor differences will utilize our product for his own purposes.

Production will be shared on sheets 2, 3 and 4, the major part of which will be undertaken by D.M.S. staff in U.K. This development should bring forward the target completion date.

1:25000 1882

It was decided that this series must be completely maintained until full cover by 1:20000 is available. Fortunately the Director of Military Survey had reached the same conclusion and has sheets 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9 under revision and others (7 and 14) under reprinting in the United Kingdom and will supply us with copies as and when required.
