CHANGE IN U.S. STYMIE

RULE

New York, March 29.—A minor change has been made in the sub- stitute stymie rule, recently pass- ed by the United States Golf, As- sociation, to eliminate doubt on the question of whether a ball within six inches of the hole may be lift- ed no matter where the other ball is.

The change just adopted requires that both balls be on the putting green before a player may lift the nearer ball when within six inches of the hole or of the other ball..
