6.47 Sham Shui Po Reclamation Scheme Stage I, Phase A was nearly complete to provide 871 metres of seawall and 7.8 hectares of reclamation. Phase B has been prepared for the invitation of tenders when funds are available and includes construction of a new passenger ferry pier. Design work has commenced on Phase C which includes the construction of covered ways, concourse area and road and drainage works.
6.48 Planning and design continued for the first stage of the Cheung Sha Wan Reclamation Scheme, which will provide 5.7 hectares of reclamation for a permanent wholesale market and part of the West Kowloon Corridor Road, and includes a large salt-water pumphouse to provide flushing water for the western half of the Kowloon Peninsula.

6.50 Kowloon Bay Seawall Part III, totalling 350 metres in length, was completed. A pumphouse was constructed alongside the runway in connection with a new Terminal Building at Kai Tak Airport.
6.51 Design and preparation of contract documents were well in hand for the Kowloon Bay Development, Drainage Works Stage II, Kai Tak Nullah Extension. This is the last section of the nullah outfall in the Kowloon Bay Seawall.
New Territories
6.52 A rubble mound was constructed at Shuen Wan, Tai Po, to contain controlled tipping; length of wall 651 metres.
6.53 Planning and design work were in hand for the construction of seawalls and associated works to provide a cargo-handling area in Rambler Channel Typhoon Shelter.
Maintenance and Dredging
6.54 General maintenance and repairs were carried out to Government piers, seawalls, breakwaters, salt-water pumphouses, navigational markers and light beacons.
6.55 Normal maintenance dredging was carried out by the two pontoon dredgers at nullah and sewer outfalls, pier approaches, salt-water pumphouse intakes and the fairway in the Yau Ma Tei Typhoon Shelter. A total of 42,740 cubic metres of spoil was removed. The self-propelled hopper dredger continued dredging the Central Fairway and removed a total of 215,000 cubic metres of material.
6.56 Underwater inspections were made of seawalls, piers, pumphouses, submarine outfalls, breakwaters and watermains. A total of 453 hours of diving time was recorded.
