IDRAMATIC ESCAPE OF REPUBLICAN SUBMARINE UNDER EYES OF FRENCH

Paris, To-day. Further particulars of the dramatic escape of the Spanish Republican submarine C4 from the port of Verdon, at the mouth of the Gironde, have now been revealed.
The submarine left port last Thursday under the supervision of a French warship, for the pur- pose of carrying out manoeuvres to see whe- ther it was in diving trim.
The submarine submerged: ap- peared on the surface again and submerged a second time, on which it failed to reappear.
