Construction of Chai Wan Community Centre was completed in October 1974 while the reprovisioning of the Hung Hom Kitchen at Cornwall Street was completed in February 1975.

Urban Council Projects

The year saw the completion of the Swimming Pools Complex at Kennedy Town and also commencement of site formation work for another Swimming Pools Complex at Aberdeen.

Pokfulam Road Playground was completed while work was commenced on Indoor Games Halls at Cheung Sha Wan Playground and Boundary Street Sports Ground.

An Off-Street Refuse Collection Point was completed in Causeway Bay and others went into construction in Aberdeen, Tsim Sha Tsui and Tai Kok Tsui.

Pest Control Stores, Offices and Quarters were completed at Rennies Mill while the work involved in the additions and alterations to Li Cheng Uk Tomb Museum was put in hand.

Construction work on a latrine at Ma Hang Village, Stanley and Beach Buildings at Stanley Main Beach, Middle Bay Beach and South Bay Beach was well advanced at the conclusion of the year.

Urban Services Projects

4.80 In the New Territories, work was completed on Tsuen Wan Swimming Pools Complex and Park and a Lavatories and Refreshment Kiosk at Clear Water Bay Park.

Also completed in the New Territories was an Off-Street Refuse Collection Point at Tuen Mun San Hui and floodlighting to Yuen Long Sports Ground and to a number of Parks and Playgrounds within a phased programme.

Services Projects

4.82

At the beginning of the year there were eighteen projects under construction, eight of which were of major proportions. The construction of 90 Married Soldiers Quarters project at Osborn Barracks was completed, while Phase I of the additional accommodation at Gun Club Hill Barracks was started.

During the year, a Pathology Laboratory wing attached to the British Military Hospital at King's Park was completed, while improvement works for the Operating Theatre Suites were put in hand. Also at King's Park, a contract was started which, when completed, will provide nine married officers quarters.

4.84

Projects at feasibility planning stage included a scheme for the rebuilding of Osborn Barracks under which a NAAFI/Community Centre, Officers and NCO's Mess Buildings would be provided. A detailed study relating to the reprovisioning of accommodation at Shamshuipo Camp was completed. Working drawings for the construction of sixty-four married soldiers quarters at Sek
