TRIFLING DAMAGE
Hankow, To-day.
Hankow's populace experienced a thrilling evening yesterday when more than a dozen bombers staged a spectacular moonlight raid on the Hankow airfield on which they dropped over twenty bombs.
The Japanese machines were compelled to fly at a great height owing to intensive anti-aircraft fire which thundered ceaselessly from the time that powerful searchlights picked out the raid- ers in the sky.
After the raid, Renter's corres- pondent motored to the aerodrome and found guards with fixed bay- onets guarding all entrances to the airfield and stopping all traffic.
The air was filled with smoke and the smell of sulphur.
ONE SMALL FIRE
It is claimed that only slight dam- age was done, and only one small fire was visible in the far corner of the airfield.
Yesterday evening's raid was the third in the last 24 hours. Reuter.
