Postponement of the Austrian plebiscite was an- nounced this evening following the receipt of an ultimatum from Herr Hitler, allegedly threatening to send troops into Austria in the event on non-compliance within three hours. The statement that Herr Hitler had threatened an armed invasion of Austria was made by Herr Zernatto, the Secretary-General of the Father- land Front in a broadcast speech last night. Zernatto added that the German ultimatum de-
manded the resignation of the Austrian Cab-nounced, the resistance of the inet, and the appointment of a government of Hitler's choice.
