LEE WAI TONG AND PAUL KONG
SCINTILLATE
SHOULD TRAVEL FAR IN COLONY DOUBLES TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP
Little Entertainment Yesterday
(By “ADREM")
IF anything, the matches decided yesterday in the Open Tennis Tournament at the Hong Kong Cricket Club, were more uninteresting than on the opening day.
In the main, they were all terribly one-sided and there was really little entertainment in watch- ing a fairly decent player toy with some poor unfor- tunate with more enthusiasm than skill.
TO-DAY'S TENNIS MATCHES
PERSONALITIES ON PARADE

This afternoon's tennis gramme, from a point of view of personalities who will be on view,
promises to be the most entertain- ing vet witnessed.
Two other games which should be interesting, if not skilful, will be Warr v Wong Shiu-wing and Aga- furoff v Wei Chung, Pang Di-lam, a very stylish player, from Kowloon Tong, should dispose of Micky Drys- dale, who has been out of the game for some time:

Lui Kwai-fan and Ip Cho-ping|WELLJENNET are far from novices at the game. Lui is pretty solid all round and Ip is generally very steady and vet they were up against a hope- less proposition from the start.
I could not find one really weak department in the play of either Lee or Kong. The latter was fluency personified off the ground, hit his first service with amazing___power and was as safe as houses on the volley.
It was in this later phase of the game that Lee was also prominent. He is one of the few men în local tennis who seems equally sure of himself either in the air or off the ground. He was even confident playing a lob-volley, off a smash, while his heavily sliced ground strokes appeared most difficult to pick up.
On their showing yesterday the veteran combination of Lee and Kong are going to take a good deal of beating and I shall be very sur-
