Removal Fees To
Be Paid
Shanghai, To-day.
Representatives of the owners of a British and American cargo, - valued at several thousand pounds sterling, which has been bottled up on two wharves outside the International Settle- ment since the Japanese occupied the area, will be allowed to enter the wharves to arrange for removal of the cargo on March 1, the Japanese naval authorities announced.
The wharves in question are owned by the China Merchants Steam Navigation Co., and were formerly operated by the Chinese Government.
They were used as a temporary dumping ground for cargo coming from the upper reaches of the Yangtse while it waited for an ocean-going steamer to transfer it to Britain and America, and vice
versa.
Announcing the opening of the wharves, the Japanese naval au- thorities state they are not bear- ing any responsibility for loss or damages to cargoes sustained prior to the inventory made by "the Japanese after the occupation.

Rome, To-day. The Czecho-Slovakian Minister in Rome protested to the Italian Foreign Office on Saturday against a sensational accusation levélled by the semi-official "Giornale d'Italia" at the President Benes of Czecho Slovakia.
