The fourth day of the annual meeting opened
in glorious weather this morning, before a fairly HAVE YOU WON? good crowd of racegoers. The conditions were per- fect, with a fresh breeze and a warm sun, and the ladies made the most of their opportunity.
A SURPRISE WAS PROVIDED. IN THE FIRST RACE OF THE DAY WHEN THE FOURTH FAVOURITE, BARRACHITO, NOODT UP, WON BRILLIANTLY FROM GOLDEN COW TO PAY $42.60 TO HER BACKERS, WHILE FIVE RULERS RAN INTO THIRD PLACE TO PAY HER TWELVE BACKERS $40.20 EACH
H. C. Pih rode a capital race to bring National Pride in to victory in the Grand Stand Stakes. Hum- drum Eve and Lancashire Lass made all the running, but National Pride came up the straight in a
magnificent final burst and won by L. Dunbar's Boolat Bay 161 lb. a length from Humdrum Eve.

Paris, To-day. The Chinese tennis champion, Kho Sin-kie; won two new titles yesterday when, in the South of France Championships, at Nice, he defeated Ellmer (Switzerland) in the final of the Men's Singles and in the final of the Men's Doubles, in partnership with Brugnon
and J. Lyttleon Rogers. (France), he beat H. W. Austin
Kno beat Ellmer by 6-1, 2-6, 6-0, 8-6, and he and Brugnon won the doubles in five sets.
In the Women's Singles, the youthful Chinese prodigy, Gem to Mies Wheeler (U.S.A.) by 4-6 and 2-6.
