Starting Rule Amendment For Ocean Races

London, January 13.

Sir William Burton, the Presi- dent of the Yacht Racing Asso- ciation, presided over a meeting of the Council yesterday. Lieut. R. H. Farrant, R. A., and Mr. Harold E. Clarke were elected members of the association.

The Council decided, upon the proposal of the Royal Ocean Racing Club, to add to the Ap- pendix of the Y.R.A. Rules:

"In Ocean Races of over 100 miles, when recall numbers are displayed under Rule 28, a yacht failing to re- turn shall not be disqualified ipso facto, but may be disqualified. When, owing to the number of starters, or for any reason, no recall numbers are displayed, a yacht which is over the line too soon and does not return may be disqualified,”

18 FT. NATIONAL CLASS Consideration was given to form- ing a national class of 18-foot, cen- tre-board, half-decked sailing boats of inexpensive type, and the subject was submitted to the Dinghy Com- mittee. Several cases of protest during last racing season were decided. The annual meeting of thế YRA. will be held at the Hyde Park Hotel at 2.30 p.m. on Feb. 23. Members present yesterday were:
