THE UNITED STATES BEING THE HOLDERS OF THE DAVIS CUP TROPHY, WHICH THEY WON FROM GREAT BRI- TAIN LAST YEAR AT WIMBLEDON, THE DRAW FOR THE 1938 SERIES WAS MADE HERE YESTERDAY, GREAT BRI- TAIN MEETING RUMANIA IN THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE FIRST ROUND.

There are no really interesting encounters in the first-half, as the United States, as holders, do not enter the affray until the Chal- lenge Round, when they will meet the winners of the Inter-Zone. Final.

J. G. Lush, the New South Wales player, has accepted the contract of Sir Julien Cahn to play in England. The contract is for three years, dur- ing which Lush will be employed on the journalistic staff of a Mid- land newspaper. He leaves for England in March, and will be mar-fa ried before his departure.

After a great controversy which raged for some time, Australia has again decided to enter for the com- petition and has been drawn against Mexico, in the First Round of the American Zone, while Japan is also making a comeback after a year's absence, and will meet Canada, also in the American Zone.

Germany, who won the European Zone title last year, but who were eliminated by the United States in the Inter-Zone Final, will meet Norway in the Second Round, hav- ing been conceded a bye.
