NEW
The fancy stitch which is so prettily placed in this jumper, re sembles flower bells hanging in groups. It is designed for knit- ting in a soft, 2-ply wool.
Materials: 5oz 2-ply wool, blue; No. 8 needles; 3 pearl battone; white leather belt.
Measurements: Bust, 34 inches; length to underarm seam, 14 inches; sleeve along seam, 7 inches.
Front: Cast on 111 stitches on No. 8 needles.
Knit into the back' of the stitches.
Knit in a rib of 1 plain, 1 purl, continuing to knit into the back of the stitches every row until rib- bing measures 4 inches.
Commence pattern.
1st row: Knit 1, purl 1 (knit into the backs) for 50 stitches, purl 5, wool over needle, kit 1, wool round needle, purl 5, * knit 1, purl 1 (through the backs), repeat from * to the end.

36th row: Rib 46. stitches, kait 23, knit in rib to end.
Continue to work in the pattern - to the beginning of the eighth pat- ⚫tern
Shape armholes. -
Cast off 10 stitches at the begin- ning of the next 2 rows.
Continue to knit in pattern, de- creasing 1-stitch at the beginning of the next 10 rows."
Ninth pattern.
1st row: Purl 5, wool over needle, knit 1, wool round needle, repeat from * 7 times, purl 2, slip remaining stitches on to a spare needle.
2nd row: Cast on 8 stitches, knit in pattern to end.
Continue to knit in pattern, knit ting the 8 cast-on stitches plain every row.
At the beginning of the 12th pat- tern, shape neck
1st row: Purl 2, * wool over needle, knit 1, wool round needle, puri 5, repeat from * 6 times, purl 5, kult 8”--
2nd row:
Cast off 10 stitches, knit in pattern to end of row.
Cast off 2 stitches at the begin- hing of every row at neck edge 5 times.
Shape shoulders.
Cast off 7 stitches, purl to end. Knit.
Repeat these 2 rows 3 times. Cast off remaining 11 stitches. Return to stitches on spare needle, join wool at centre.

Knit to correspond with the left side, and finish off in the same way, BACK: Follow the instructions for the front, omitting the neck shaping.
SLEEVES: Cast on 70 stitches: Knit into the back of the stitches. Knit in a rib of 1 plain, 1 pürl for 8 rows, knitting into the back of the stitches in every row.
Change to pattern.
1st row: Purl 5, wool over needle, knit 1, wool round needle, repeat from * to end, increasing in last stitch.*
Continue to work in the yoke pat- tern, increasing 1 stitch each end of the needle every seventh row 6 times.
Work even until sleeve measures 7 inches, cast off 2 stitches at the beginning of every row, until 28 stitches remain. Cast off. .
COLLAR: Cast on 130 stitches, 1st row: Kalt 8, purl 1, * wool knit in a rib of 1 plain, 1 puri, knit- over needle, Init 1, wool round ting into the back of every stitch needle, purl 5, repeat from * to end. in every row for 31⁄2 inches. Cast
Continue in pattern, knitting the off
8 border stitches plain every row.
Make a buttonhole in the 5th
row.
TO MAKE UP: Press with a hot iron over a damp cloth, sew up shoulder, side, and sleeve seams, Knit 3, cast off 3, knit in pattern sew in sleeves seam to seam, sew to end.
cast-on edge of collar to neck.
In the next row cast on the 3 stitches that were cast off in the previous row.
Work 1 row of double crochet along the front edge of collar and down front opening.
