GENERAL

11.01

The Waterworks Office is responsible for all aspects of water supply and distribution carried out by Government.

The work is divided among eight divisions and three units each with specific responsibilities as shown on the operation and organisation chart. Consulting engineers are appointed to carry out planning, feasibility studies and construction of new works which require specialist knowledge or at times when the resources of the Office are fully extended. A list of projects undertaken by consultants is given at Appendix BB. New works and a large proportion of the maintenance work are carried out by contract but the operation of supply, the distribution of water and maintenance of meters and machinery is done by Waterworks staff.
