Mr. De Valera To Meet Mr. Chamberlain In London
Preliminary Talks To Ascertain Chances Of Agreement

It is officially announced that an Anglo-Irish Conference will be held in London on January 17, for the purpose of discussing outstanding ques- tions affecting relations of the two countries. Mr. Neville Chamberlain and Mr. Eamonn de Valera will attend.

All questions of common interest will be open to discussion but there will be no fixed agenda until the first day's conversations show whether there is any prospect of the discus- sions being useful.
Hence the first consultations will be entirely preliminary. They are the result of informal conversations held between Mr. Malcolm Macdonald and Mr. de Valera as the occasion has offer- ed in London or Geneva.
