The construction of the seawall and reclamation forming part of the Central Reclamation Stage V scheme continued satisfactorily.

The seawall forming the boundary of the Kennedy Town Reclamation Stage II, running westward from the Kennedy Town Incinerator, was commenced. The planning of a large reclamation along the waterfront of the Western District was started.

At Aldrich Bay work was completed on a 300 ft. rubble mound and a 500 ft. rubble mound was commenced.

These two mounds will retain two separate reclamations which will be used for twelve boatyards.

6.42

A total of 1,730 feet of seawall enclosing an area to be used for resettlement and industry at Chai Wan was completed. The reclamation proceeded satisfactorily.

The construction of a further 1,700 feet of seawall and reclamation has commenced. This reclamation will initially be used as a works site for the Mass Transit Railway.

6.43

In Aberdeen a 2,250 feet section of seawall and rubble mound was being designed, to form the first phase of the Aberdeen Reclamation Stage II Scheme. The reclamation so formed will be used for boat yards, ancillary industries and a seaman training centre.

Investigation continued for development at Tai Hang Road (First Stage), and commenced for development at Mount Butler, Braemar Hill, an area North of Wah Fu Estate, and Victoria Road and Kennedy Town.

Kowloon

6.45 To extend the reclamation for the Tong Mi Road Extension, the new major North Kowloon to Tsim Sha Tsui road link, the construction of the seawall between Shantung Street and Beech Street was completed.

6.46

The main breakwater and dolphins for the Kowloon Bay Typhoon Shelter, adjacent to the Kai Tak Runway Extension, were completed and the construction of the secondary breakwater was well advanced.

The construction of a seawall for the first stage of the Sham Shui Po Reclamation Scheme was commenced.

Planning and design of the first stage of the Cheung Sha Wan Reclamation Scheme, which includes 14 acres of reclamation and a large salt-water pumphouse to supply flushing water for the Western half of the Kowloon peninsula, was started.

The construction of Part III of the seawall forming part of the Kowloon Bay Reclamation Scheme reached the halfway mark.

New Territories

6.50

A jetty at Pak Sha Wan, Hebe Haven, and the construction of 1,250 feet of seawall enclosing a reclamation of 11 acres East of Sai Kung Town were completed.
