THRILLING CRICKET WITH KEEN FINISHES MARKS WEEK-END
(By "ADREM")
SATURDAY'S cricket programme provided as varied and as spectacular a series of incidents as any cricketer could hope for.
THERE WAS A REALLY EXCELLENT BOWLING FEAT, COUPLED WITH A SCORE WHICH, IF NOT THE LOWEST, MUST HAVE BEEN ALMOST THE LOWEST SCORE IN LOCAL LEAGUE CRICKET HISTORY, A HARD-HIT CENTURY AND THE UPSET OF A CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM BY A SIDE WHICH, TO DATE, HAS HAD A PARTICULARLY LEAN SEASON.
:
EA. R. Alves and Recreio juniors provided the biggest sensation of the week. When a side bats first and can only manage a score of 84, it is usually conceded to be all over bar the shouting. And that, actually, was the feeling of many of the Recreio team when they went out on the field.
It is now evident that Messrs. L. G. Gosano and E. A. R. Alves had different ideas. The former has met with a certain amount of success this season, but Alves, although he has bowled steadily on many occasions, has never ap-

RECREIO SENIORS FINE WIN Recreio seniors did very well to beat Craigengower seniors by two wickets in a low-scoring game. With only two wickets in hand, Recreio were still 9 runs in arrears and in view of the fact that there were two stop-gaps from the seconds, Hatfield bowled in typical style prospects of a Craigengower win tiful square-cuts which would have to take 3 for 18, while Bloomfield, were bright Rodrigues, who went done credit to any batsman in the going on late captured 3 for 11.
