An extension to the Caroline Hill Workshop to provide additional facilities for vehicle repairs and apprentice training was under construction.

To overcome the overcrowding problem in the Macau Ferry Terminal, Stage I of the alterations and additions was put in hand during the year and reached an advanced stage of construction.
Government Offices

Upon completion of the alteration work in the Kowloon Central Government Offices in October 1973, more accommodation was made available for the Civil Engineering Office of the Public Works Department.

Alterations were also completed during the year on the top floor of Murray Building to provide accommodation for the New Towns Development Department and the Mass Transit Studies Office of the Public Works Department.
Public Housing
4.58 During the year under review eleven domestic blocks containing 42,100 individual units were completed and a further forty-one blocks containing 168,500 individual units were under construction. (An individual unit of accommodation means a unit of living space designed for one adult.) In addition, four estate schools containing 96 classrooms were completed and construction of fifteen similar schools containing a total of 360 classrooms, together with fourteen kindergartens, was in hand.

In addition, seven restaurants and eight modular markets were in the course of construction.

Work was in hand on site formation on the balance of Pak Tin Estate for the building of accommodation for some 21,000 people. Site formation work was also in hand on further sites which, when completed, would provide 39,100 individual units of accommodation and planning and contract documents were in hand for projects which, when completed, would provide a further 137,500 individual units.
Medical and Health Buildings

An Outpatients Clinic and major alterations to the existing building at St. John's Hospital, Cheung Chau, were completed, as was a Health Office and associated Staff Quarters at Cheung Sha on Lantau.

A standard Urban Clinic and Maternity Home at Tsz Wan Shan and the reprovisioning of the Clinic at Sha Tau Kok were also completed during the year.

By the end of the year the Princess Margaret General Hospital at Lai Chi Kok was nearing completion while work was proceeding on the combined Staff Quarters which are to cater for that General Hospital and the Mental Hospital to be built adjacent to it.
4.64
The site formation work for Stage I of Kowloon East Polyclinic was nearing completion as the year ended. The building of this stage of the Polyclinic is programmed for completion in 1975.
