NO INTERPORT SOCCER THIS SEASON
FOUR FACTORS DECIDE AGAINST ANNUAL CLASSIC
JUNIOR SHIELD DRAW:
ALSO REPRESENTATIVE
MATCHES
IN view of the poor gates so far experienced, the unsettled conditions at present prevailing in Shanghai, the fact that none of the Chinese play- ers will be available and the uncertainty of the in- clusion of any Service players, it was decided at the monthly meeting of the Council of the Hong Kong Football Association last night not to send an In- terport team to Shanghai for the annual Interport contest next spring.
Applications were received from the Hong Kong Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation and the Eastern Athletic Association for charity game in aid of the Shanghai Relief Fund.
It was decided that a game be played for this cause on Christ- mas Day between an Association side and the Federation, and that the Chinese game against Scotland in the Sunday Herald Charity Cup Competition be played on Chinese New Year's Day.
CIVILIANS' WEALTH
OF TALENT
(Continued from Page 18)
all what does it matter who wins next Sunday's game so long as everybody is given 2 sporting- chance and I contend that Marques has earned it.
Willie Reed and Malik are the logical choices for the centre half and left-half berths, respectively although Brown, of the Police, is also a claimant for one of the two wing-half berths.
THE ONLY FORWARD LINE
As I stated in yesterday's issues of the China Mail, the Civilian at- tack should comprise S. A. Fowler (Club), Gurbachan Singh (Radio).
Pyara Singh (KIT.C), U, Kraus
(YMCA,) and V. Bond (Club).
It was also agreed that if Eastern wished they could arrange a match between female Chinese Movie, stars, as requested in their letter, as curtain raiser to the Charity game.
The following were appointed con- venors for the selections of the dif- ferent International teams :—
Portugal-Mr. C. M. Alves. England. Mr. I. Skinner. China Mr. Wong Ka-tsum. Scotland Mr. J. McKelvie.
