HUNDREDS DIE | SHANGHAI UNEASY

IN LANDSLIDE DISASTER

Tokyo, To-day

Between 500 and 600 Japanese miners and their families are thought to have lost their lives in a landslide disaster yesterday at Komenashiyama, on the borders of Nagano and Gumma prefectures.

Fire was added to the terror when stores of explosives blew up with a thunderous roar, turning the entire neighbourhood into a sea of flames visible for miles round.
