FREE LANCES WIN AT HOME AGAINST C.R.C.

PLAYING under very bad conditions at the Seamen's Institute last night, the Chinese Recreation Club was beaten by 5 games to 4 by the Free Lances, in the "B" Division of the Men's Doubles Badminton League.

The match was played on a mat, while the surrounding walls were of such a colour that it was difficult, and sometimes impossible, for the players to follow the flight of the stuttlecock.

However, the Free Lances having no court of their own, will have to continue playing home matches un- der these poor conditions throughout the season, unless, permission is given, allowing them to make some improvements in the econditions.

The inclusion of Fung King-cheong and Lai Shui-wing in sup- port of F. Fowler in the centre forward position, will guarante support for the latter. Fowler has a good burst of speed, can shoot. well and uses his head to advantage, but has not received the best of support from his Club colleagues and this will be an excellent chance for him to show what he really can do.

Han Ching to, the Eastern left- winger, is very inconsistent but should he be on form, he should be the source of great danger to the Services defence.
