SEIZURE OF TWO MORE ISLANDS REPORTED
Kangmoon, To-day. Following the Japanese oC- cupation of Hopao Island on October 3, two other islands. about 40 miles west of Hopao Island, known as Shang Chuen and Hsia Chuen, were taken by the Japanese Navy on October 7, according to belated reports reaching here to-day.
The two islands are separat- ed by a narrow strip of water -of less than a mile. Three Ja- blue- -panese destroyers sent
jackets to land on these islands on October 7 and are now us- ing them as a supply base. Wooden houses are being con-- structed to accommodate the Japanese sailors.
The two islands have a good water supply from mountain brooks, for the Japanese ships cruising in South China waters. The soil is fertile, and salt fields are located near the waterfront.
Hsia Chuen is about the size of Hong Kong, while Shang Chuen sis double the area of Hsia Chuen. Formerly inhabit- ed by pirates, these two islands are under the jurisdiction of the Changshan Model County. Interntional News Agency.
