TORPEDONA FIRED AT H.M.S. BASILISK

London, To-day.

It is learned that the destroyer H.M.S. Basilisk, while engaged on anti-piracy patrol in the Western Mediterranean, was attacked yes- terday by an unknown submarine.

One torpedo was fired at Basilisk, which retaliated with a depth charge, the effect of which is unknown.

Seven British destroyers and two seaplanes are reported to be en- gaged in searching for a submarine which is alleged to have attacked two destroyers, according to an other message from Denia, relayed to Paris from Valencia.

It is-added that the search is being carried out by British forces in the neighbourhood of Cape San Antonio. Reuter,

The fotilla consists of the sub- marine mother ship Weichsel, the mother ship Mosel, seven submari-

nes, U 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 and 22, and the torpedo-boat T 156.

By order of Herr Hitler the new fotilla will bear the name Lohs Flotilla, in memory of Lt. Lohs, who perished in the Great War when in command of a submarine.
