Another notable success this year has been Hillyer, and his confident play as Number Three to Rakusen had much to do with the rinks very successful run. Rakusen has been the sheet anchor of the rink and, as a former First Division player, this was not unexpected, whilst Whant also did well in the same rink. Harry Westlake stepped into the shoes of his son and, but for his in- ability to play in the last two games, might well have finished sec ond to his club-mate in the Skip's table: He had to rest content with the third place with only two defeats in a dozen games. So now I suppose the "Young Un will have to fight to get HIS place back again.
• Club de Recreio, after an exciting last match on which the honour rested, secured the runners-up position and they were worthy of it. In Charlie Roza Pereira they have an ideal skip, who held his rink well together and inspired them to great deeds by his example. Second place in the Skip's Table was his worthy reward for some excellent play.
