CHINESE TEAMS MAKE MANY CHANGES: K. HAVE 11 NEWCOMERS

(By "OUTSIDE LEFT")

IT is yet too early to gauge the form of the many clubs in the First Di- commence this vision of the local Football League, which will afternoon with four interesting encounters, including the initial appear- ance of the Middlesex Regiment in the Hong Kong League. South China "A" make their first appearance as a team since their return from their South Seas tour, against Eastern, and are expected to record their first

win.

The former League champions are making several interesting changes. Wong Wah-gay, form- er junior custodian, will be seen in goal instead of Pau Ka-ping, who is resting at the moment, while Mak Shui-hon, former Kowloon Chinese and Athletic full-hack, makes his first appearance for South China în partnership with Lee Tip-sang.

FOOTBALL

PROGRAMME

Lee Wai-tong, China's soccer idol and probably the most attractive soccer player in China to-day, will be missed from the South China “A” centre-forward position to-day when the team meets. Eastern in the First Division

position will be filled by Yeung tures, for the week-end: Ka-cheng, a newcomer from Pen- ang, who also made the South Sees tour.

In the unavoidable absence of Lee Wai-tong, who is on the injured list, Chan Tak-fai, one of the cleverest of the junior or South China "B" inside forwards, has been promoted and will be seen at inside-right in support of Fung King-cheong.

FIVE NEWCOMERS With five newcomers in Row lands, in goal, Souza, at left-back, Coakley, right-wing, Jorge, inside- right, and Evans, former Interport left-half, at inside-left-almost half a team-Kowloon should do well against the Seaforths, who are, however, favoured to beat the Kow- loon Civilians.

The Kowloon team has not yet settled down to the many changes in all departments of the game and I very much doubt whether the very clever Scots will give them an op- portunity to do so to-day. I think the greatest mistake Kowloon have made was to have moved D. Knox to the left-wing position.

McGuigan, Sampson and Fraser" the Scots' three inside-forwards, are probably three of the fastest forwards in the Colony at the mo- ment, deadly for their terrific “daisy-cutters."

UNKNOWN QUANTITY St. Joseph's are fielding a fairly [strong team, but against an un- known quantity like Kowloon Chin- ese, who are reported to be fielding 11 newcomers, a forecast of a win in their favour would be unnatural.

POWHATTAN'S CHANCES

.

There is no doubt that the de- cision to divide the Third Divi- sion of the local Football League into two sections will result in keeness being maintained till the Tend of the season, though it ap

pears that the best football will be seen on the mainland as the Portuguese Sporting Association. the Seaforths and the Air Force are in this section.

The Portuguese Sporting As- sociation, conceded to have the best chance of winning the cham- pionship, will have the whole of Liga's team at their disposal to- gether with several of Recreio's First Division players, and by their recent displays in several friendly games, are well up to Second Division · standard and could well have followed Kwong Wah's example in applying for entry in the Second Division.

The Air Force will much the same team as
