Heavy Battle Now Raging On Long Front
Peiping, To-day.
Although no decision is yet in sight on the North China front, a heavy battle is raging on a front 110 kilometres long south of Peiping and be- tween the Peihan and Tientsin-Pukow Railways.
The Chinese are making a stubborn resistance, the strength of which has surprised the Japanese High Command:

A communique issued by the War Office claims that, according to es- timates of Japanese field headquar- ters, Chinese killed in the North China fighting between September 14 and 17 totalled 6,000.
