RECREIO "STARS”:

SULLIVAN HAS BAD PATCH

S. A. RUMJAHN WINS

(By "REFEREE”)

There was some sparkling tennis witnessed at the Hard Court Tennis Championships at the United Ser- vices Recreation Club yesterday when several doubles encounters were featured. Most thrilling was witnessed when the Portuguese pair, A. V Remedios and J. Gün- salves beat S. A Gray and A. Crawford, of the KC.C., in a three set tussle.

A. L. Sullivan and L. Goldman. the U.S.R.C. first string, entered the second round as a result of dis- posing of F. E Kwok and S. W. Liang, of the C.R.C. The losers led 4-2 in the second set, but could not hold their advantage and eventua1 ly lost 5-7.

RR Todd and G. E R. Diver caused a surprise when they eli- minated In Tak-cheuk and Wong Shiu-wing in straight sets, the second set being a furious affair.

AS a fitting prelude to the commencement of local

racing, the Seventh Extra Race Meeting which will be held at Happy Valley on Saturday, September 25, the Macao Race Club have arranged an attractive programme of seven events at the Areia Preta Race Course, Macao, to-morrow.____

With the inclusion of a Troopers Hurdle Race (Unofficial). which is being held for the first time in Macao, interest should be well maintained throughout, especially in view of the fact that en tries for the various events can be regarded as very satisfactory. Furthermore, lady riders will again be catered for, so everything points to a successful meeting...

The damage done to the stands and track have been rapidly repaired, and visitors can rest assured that everything possible will be done to ensure their comfort.
