Events in North China are moving rapidly to- wards a major clash between 180,000 Japanese and Chinese forces estimated at least 400,000.

The Japanese have penetrated fifty miles from Chahar into Shansi Province, hitherto meeting with little resistance, but the Chinese are massing south of Tatung, and a large-scale clash is probable

It is also believed that the Communist forces in the neighbouring Province of Shensi are preparing to fight the Japanese. Reuter.
