A new version of the Japanese demands in the North China crisis is current in Chinese circles here, including:
Fusion of the northern part of Hopei and the whole of Chahar with East Hopei as an indepen- dent State, with Tientsin as capital,
Tangku, Tientsin's port at the mouth of the Pei Ho, will be made a naval base for the Japanese Navy,
The Peiping area will be demilitarised,
