According to a Japanese despatch from Tokyo, quoted by Reuter from Shanghai, an Army Division which is garrisoned in West Japan has been ordered to stand-by in readiness for embarkation for North China.
The identity of the Division has not been dis- closed. Further indication of the Japanese mili- tary view of the situation is provided by an official announcement that the release of conscripts who have served their full term in the Army is suspend- ed for the time being.
