RULES FOR | LOCAL SHARES
SILVER EXCHANGE
A set of supplementary measures governing the exchange of silver dollars for legal tender notes at the Central Bank, Bank of China, Bank of Communications and Farmers Bank of China has been announced by the Nanking Ministry of Fin- ance.
With a view to encouraging those in possession of silver dollars to surrender their hording to the banks in exchange for legal tender notes, the banks, according to these re- gulations, are to pay the fee for transportation at the rate of $6 per 100 silver dollars.
The amount paid out by the banks in this connection will be refunded by the Ministry of Finance upon receipt of a detailed statement accounts from the banks concern- ed at the end of each month.

The Ministry of Finance also ad- vised in its orders to the banks that the Customs, military and police au- thorities · throughout the country have been instructed to co-operate in getting all the silver dollars in the rural districts changed into legal tender notes.

The time limit for the changing of silver into notes: was originally fixed on May 3 this year but in view of the fact that many in remoter parts of the country where *·legal tender notes have not been circulat- ed ́ must still be holding their hord- ings in silver, the time limit, the Baguio Gold Ministry of Finance further vised, has been indefinitely lifted.
