F. A. LEAGUE] ANNUAL MEETING

4-UP, 4-DOWN PLAN TO BE RAISED AGAIN

DERBY COUNTY'S PROPOSAL

London, May 28. Derby County will again sponsor the resolution to relegate four clubs each season from the First and Sec- ond Divisions, and promote four from the Second División and two from each section of the Third Divi- sion, at the annual meeting of the Football League on Monday week. (June 7).

The progressive Derby Club will also propose that at the beginning of every season the First and Sec- ond Division clubs shall pay £88 4s. into a fund to be equally distributed among the less fortunate Third Division clubs.

Derby County's magnanimity does not stop there. They will ask the League to increase referees' and linesmen's fees to six guineas, and three guineas, respectively, for First and Second Division matches, and four guineas and two guineas for Third Division matches.

TALENT MONEY

The Management Committee will propose an increase in talent money for wins in F.A. Cup matches from £2 per player from the first to the sixth rounds to £4, £6 and £8 in the fourth, fifth and sixth rounds, respectively, and the com- mittee suggest raising the bonus from £4 to £10 in the semi-finals and.. from £8 to £12 in the final.

They also propose that stockings should be included when club col-

Chicago, Yesterday. commenting upon the Braddock world title fight at Comiskey Park yesterday, Reuter's boxing correspondent states: As it has often been pre- dicted, Joe Louis, the 23-year- old Negro from Detroit is the new heavyweight champion of the world and followed in the footsteps of Jack Johnson, who was the last Negro to win the title, having beaten Jeffries, in 1907.

James Braddock, the former world champion, gave a magni- ficent exhibition for the first six rounds and was probaby ahead on points at this stage, and brought a great roar of applause in the first round when he drop- Iped Joe Louis to the boards, but

without a count being taken.

The turning point in the contest took place in the sixth round when Louis was content to let Braddock take the initiative, but suddenly stepped in and loosened a series of terrific rights to the side of the head, taking a great deal of syamina out of Braddock, who was bleeding from a cut above the left eye.

LUCK AGAINST HIM

Braddock came out gallantly in the seventh round and swung lefts and rights wildly, hoping to retain the title with a lucky punch, but later his arms began to hang help- lessly at his sides after taking tell- ing right hooks and swing to the face.
