Markets continue very quiet and there has been very little change in quotations since we penned our last week's report.
Manila has been practically fea- tureless with the exception of a short-lived · “flurry” in Gumaus Gold and Mineral Resources, which put on a few centavos in price. although closing much below best.
Hong Kong Banks are a shade easier at $1,965 sales, after deal- ings at $1,985, and Unions are avail- able at $626. Cantons offer around $310 and Hong Kong Fires at $285. China Underwriters are quoted $2 nominal. Steamboats shew small improvement at $8.10 and Douglas's are unchanged at $472.
Wharves continue around $120, but Docks have been actively dealt in up to $311⁄2 cash and at propor- tionate rates forward. Providents also have enjoyed greater popular- ity and dealings were reported up to $2.35 for the old shares, closing $24-$2.30. The "New"" sold at 70 cents and there are still buyers.
