SCHEME
Jarvis-Armstrong Deal
A further scheme to introduce more work to the special area of Tyneside has been completed by Sir John Jarvis, M.P. for Guildford.
It was announced that Sir John has purchased from Armstrong Whitworth Securities Co., Ltd., the Sir W. G. Armstrong Whitworth's Iron-founders Co., which owns and controls the Close Works, Gateshead-on-Tyne.
Sir John has also purchased from Str W. G. Armstrong Whitworth and Co. (Engineers), Ltd., the whole of its
tool and pneumatic
air compressor business including the goodwill stocks, etc. - which has been carried} on at its Scotswood Works, Newcastle- on-Tyne. It is understood that all the businesses will be continued and ex- tended in the Special Area of Type- side.

Sir John Jarvis was the founder of the Surrey Fund for helping Tyneside and Jarrow when he was High Sheriff of Surrey in 1934, and has since or- ganized many schemes for providing work in that area.
