New York, To-day.
A sensation was caused in the National League yesterday when the umpire awarded the second game of a double, header to St. Louis by nine runs to nil because the Phila- delphia pitchers were "deliberately stalling."
St. Louis were leading by 8 runs to. 2 in the fifth inning when the game was declared forfeited.
The following were the results of yesterday's major league base- ball encounters:-

LEFT-HANDERS WHO SMITE HARD
"BIG THREE” BOWLERS MUST BE WATCHED
HERMAN SENDS DOWN NINE “NO-BALLS”:
(By PETER WILSON)
London, May 10. ENGLISH cricket please note: these New Zealand tourists are going to make things hum. They're strong in batting; strong in bowling; keen in the field and they've got Class with a capital C. They've got the right temperament, too. Fighters all the time. As Surrey have already found. At one time the Tourists had lost three wickets for 29.
But they finished up 12 runs ahead with half their wickets standing. Which is an achievement especially for a side only four days off the boat. Men to take the eye were eighteen-year-old M. P. Donnelly and big-hitter W. N. Carson, both left-handers with all the grace that that implies.
:
They go in again to-day to continue their sixth-wicket stand that has so far yielded 67 runs in sixty-five minutes. Carson's 60 not out includes eight 4's. Real Woolley 4's, too
and not at all wild.
